Getting a dental crown used to mean multiple appointments, temporary restorations, and weeks of waiting. CEREC technology changes that completely by allowing us to design, create, and place your custom crown in a single visit. This advanced system uses digital imaging and precision milling to craft high-quality ceramic restorations while you wait, eliminating the need for messy impressions and temporary crowns.
At Richard Hardt's Live Oak Dental, we are proud to offer CEREC same-day crowns to our Porterville patients. Dr. Hardt, Dr. Cruz, and Dr. Lewis use this technology to provide beautiful, durable restorations in just one appointment, saving you valuable time without compromising quality. With over 34 years of experience in dentistry and a commitment to the latest tools, our team makes getting a crown more convenient than ever.
We know your time is precious, so we use CEREC technology to restore your smile in just one visit. Traditional crown procedures require at least two appointments spread over several weeks, but CEREC eliminates that timeline by bringing the entire fabrication process right into our office. The system uses computer-aided design and manufacturing to transform a digital scan of your tooth into a precisely fitted ceramic crown.
We use an intraoral camera to capture detailed 3D images of your prepared tooth, so you do not have to worry about uncomfortable impression trays or gagging on dental putty. These images appear instantly on a computer screen, where we design your custom crown using specialized software. You can even watch as we adjust the shape, size, and contours to ensure a perfect fit.
Once the design is complete, the information transfers to our in-office milling unit. This precision machine carves your crown from a solid block of high-quality ceramic in about 15 minutes. The ceramic we use matches the strength and appearance of natural teeth, and we can select the exact shade to blend seamlessly with your smile. After milling, we make any final adjustments and bond the crown permanently to your tooth.
Same-day crowns save time, but the advantages extend far beyond getting in and out of our office quickly. We want you to feel confident about the quality and durability of your restoration, not just the convenience.
CEREC crowns are made from durable ceramic that resists staining and wear much like natural tooth enamel, and they offer longevity comparable to traditional lab-made crowns. That means you get the same performance in a fraction of the time.
The digital process also improves accuracy in ways that make a real difference in your results. Traditional impressions can distort or need to be retaken, but digital scans capture precise measurements every time. This leads to better-fitting crowns that feel more natural and require fewer adjustments. You also avoid the sensitivity and inconvenience of wearing a temporary crown for weeks while waiting for a permanent restoration.
Many patients tell us they appreciate avoiding the discomfort of traditional impression materials, which can trigger gagging or anxiety. The digital scanning process is quick and non-invasive, making the entire experience more pleasant. You leave our office with your permanent crown in place, ready to eat and function normally without restrictions.
CEREC works well for a variety of dental needs. Common situations where same-day crowns provide an excellent solution include the following:
